Welcome to 3 Monkeys Kettle Corn!
The story actually begins with Donna-Marie, after a concussion brought an abrupt end to her sales & management career, and right in the thick of raising a teenager and twin pre-schoolers.
A side-hustle was needed!
Initially learning the craft of fresh kettle corn at week-end markets through another business, we wanted to use only premium New Zealand ingredients and equipment, and lift the standard in typical single use plastic bags and twist ties to refillable and reusable options for all packaging.
So after 18 months it was decided to take the leap and create our own path, and 3 Monkeys Kettle Corn was launched in July 2023!
This quickly turned into a full-time gig as Aaron left his GM role as good things were happening making kettle corn through online, wholesale, markets and events.
And the vision continues to grow.
Liz, Dan and Frankie proudly bring the 3 Monkeys spirit to Mangawhai and the surrounding region, joining the business to share that same freshly popped magic with their local community & retailers.
We're all about offering authentic quality products that are GMO, gluten, dairy, nut & soy free - that everyone can enjoy.
Our smart resealable bags lock in freshness, making them perfect as a gift or a satisfying snack on the go.
And our signature Sweet & Salty flavour?
It won a Gold Medal in the 2025 OFP Awards!

Our Why
These are our Three Monkeys, and they are the reason why we are doing this.
Our eldest, Madison, is your typical 17 year old - as Poppa used to say "has a champagne style, on a beer income" .
We're trying to instil in her the value of hard work so she can appreciate the benefits of her effort.
Our Twin Monkeys - are now eight - going on 14!
Miss Georgia loves coming to markets with us to help, has learnt to use the eft-pos and give change.
Miss Indie has been on a hell of a journey... she suffers from severe eczema and has been through Topical Steroid Withdrawal, something we never knew could happen or was even "a thing".
Support was extremely limited but we've found an amazing charity in True Colours whom is helping us tremendously.
We are grateful we can make the business
We strive to give support back to True Colours by providing them with bags of our kettle corn to help spread some joy in other families lives they help.
Quality Ingredients
Our commitment is to only use high-quality New Zealand ingredients for our corn and oil.
Therefore, we have established partnerships directly with growers, by-passing the middleman, to guarantee full traceability from start to finish.
Our amazing corn kernels belong to the "mushroom" variety. They earned this name due to their round, puffy shape rather than any taste resemblance to mushrooms.
The corn we use is certified as both Gluten and GMO-Free, sourced from a grower in Hawkes Bay, and we ensure that no gluten contaminants are introduced during our cooking and storage processes.
Our oil is pure rapeseed canola sourced from the South Island. It's known as "Good Oil" because it has an exceptionally low saturated fat content and a mild flavour.
Rest assured, there is no adulteration or substitution with lower-quality imported oils.
The only additional ingredients we use are sugar and sea salt, which we've adjusted to ensure the perfect balance—not too sweet or too salty.

Refill & Re-use
Our goal is to be as eco-friendly as possible while ensuring our kettle corn remains fresh for the longest time possible.
We wanted to avoid using the common metal 'twist tie' for sealing bags, as they frequently end up on the ground post-purchase, posing a threat to animals and becoming a litter hazard.
Therefore, we provide high-quality resealable bags and tubs, which we encourage you to reuse at home or return to us at markets/events for a discounted refill.
Both options are hugely popular with our customers.
The bags serve as an ideal gift, while the tubs, being NZ-made and BPA-free, are excellent for cupboard storage.
